| PC Mars was a great program in the day when everyone thought Quicken was the best thing since sliced bread. For me PC Mars is missing the auto transaction download feature. My time doing accounting is a 1/4 to 1/3 of what I used to spend with PC Mars. I believe they now allow a manual traction import, but it's nowhere like QB online. Also, I use invoicing a lot because I sell hay. PC mars wants a really big charge to add A/R functions. There are other things, like a really old and slow user interface with PC Mars, that just make it hard to use.
One thing that is different with PC mars vs QB online is the ability to manage to essentially a field level in PC mars. In theory this is great, but in practice it takes way to much time to allocate expenses the way PC Mars needs it done. I use a third-party service called Premier Crop that does all the agronomic things like Rx prescriptions as well as profitability down to individual field zones to help make management decisions better than I ever could have dreamed of with PC Mars. It's just plain better and faster than trying to make an accounting program do something it was really not intended to do. | |
