I have a theory about these high dollar sales. Mecum, Barrett Jackson, etc style high visibility high dollar auctions. It's all fake. Sure, many of the prices and buyers are legit. But..the "WTF" moments in an auction have me firmly believing some are sellers salting the bids, running it up, then paying the commission just for bragging rights while it really sells out back for much less.
