20 Miles West of Indianapolis Indiana | running a 1020 platform now. its getting tired and thin metal in spots. been babying it the last 3 years it seems on a 2577 combine. dad used to have a 2020 back in the day and it sucked in any beans that were short or thin. he runs a draper now which is nice but i'm not sold on them being worth all the extra money. 1020's are getting hard to find in much better shape than mine in 30'. 2020's suck IMO. 3020's i'm told are good but for the price do ya jump to a draper? and then when ya get there i'm afraid the typical draper has been over a lot more acres than a typical 3020?
thoughts as i go forward this winter? will likely keep the 2577 around for a while. just dumped a pile of money into it this summer and it runs like a champ. probably run this for 5 more years till dad starts to slow down and may add some of his acres to mine and jump to a class 7 machine. maybe the newest you can get without DEF? so would be too big of a machine for a 30' head anyhow.... |
