Remember when you could just pull into the field, push a big lever forward to turn on the separator, push another lever to make header go up or down, another lever to make machine go forward, finally push a small lever to rev the motor. Look down at the header and away you went. Relying only on your senses and some rudimentary alarm system to alert you to trouble. All the new stuff is great when it works but a real pain when it doesn’t.
That's how I still do it, all my equipment is old however what technology I do have is usually what has me pulling my hair out ready to fire tools across the field. Mechanical stuff I can usually handle, might be sketchy but with a grinder, torch, welder and some scrap iron and creativity i can scrape by. Tech instantly sends my blood pressure through the roof |
