SC Sask
My wife and I were driving home from the city with our youngest son, who was still small enough to have to ride in a 5 point car seat, it had been a long day and it was a little over 1 hour drive. The kid screamed from the the time we left the city, if we stopped to calm him down he was happy as a clam, until we started driving again he would show us just how good his lungs were. After 3-4 stops 5 minutes apart I let him scream, but I would speed up and then speed up some more, etc. Needless to say we were going at quite a clip when we got pulled over 5 miles north of our hometown. To top it all off our DOT office had recently changed how they mailed out vehicle re-registrations, so i was unknowingly driving an unregistered farm truck doing well over the dangerous driving limit. we pulled off the road immediatly, and my wife went to quiet the kid down, I told her not to let him out of his seat quite yet and the little guy was pissed!! When the cop approached the truck I saw him pause well before he got to the back of the truck, so i knew he heard my son before I got the window down. When he rolled up on our window he saw 2 very tired and frustrated parents listening to a kid screaming with all his might. We gave him what we could find for a registration, still unaware that the truck tags were out of date, he went to his cruiser and we got the kid out of his seat. When he came back to the window he saw a giggling kid sitting on my wife's lap. He then informed me that the truck was on expired tags, and at the speed i was driving I should lose the truck, possibly be arrested and pay major fines for both issues. He then asked us if we lived south of town, which I confirmed we did, he said "good we are going to go out and patrol north of town" and handed me back my documents and left.
