Madison Co. Virginia | The engine will pull timing, and won't produce its full rated power on lower octane fuel. But it should still run fine.
GM set up the 6.6L engine to produce full rated power on 87 octane fuel. Compared to the 6.2, GM lowered the compression ratio, and increased the stroke length in order to produce the same power on lower-octane fuel. This 87-octane deal has been the norm with GM's 3/4 and 1-ton gas engines for years. | |
