SW Ontario | I just had this happen recently on a CAV pump on a Perkins 236.
The lift pump was working but not making much pressure. When I shut the engine off the the sliding piece under the injection pump cover would stick in the off position. I had to tap on the injection pump to get it to start again. When I put on a new lift pump the problem went away.
So I'm thinking that when there is negative pressure in the injection pump and you shut it down something in there travels too far and gets stuck. When you shut it down with positive pressure in the injection pump, no problem.
This was on an MF 175 that was beat on pretty bad before we bought it. When I first took the cover off of the injection pump to re-seal it the injection pump had a layer of gooey mud inside of it! | |
