I have a 2023 with factory hitch behind the axle as described. I questioned it myself. So far it has not shown to be any issue grossing 24,000 with enclosed gooseneck. Matter of fact rides much better than the 2013 it replaced. Read something on duramax forum that according to gm engineers for every 5000lbs of tongue weight only removes around 300lbs of front axle weight. Very pleased with the way it handles
