I laugh at your idea that a 50 series being "stone age". I grew up with the new generation. We currently use 2, 2 cylinders, a 10 series, a 20 series, 4, 30 series, 2, 40 series, and a few newer but nothing newer than a 1999. The most hours I know of is a tractor we no longer have, but it left with over 26,000 hours in good shape. I would guess the average hours on our tractors is between 15-20,000 hours. 8-9,000 hours is just getting broken in.

Nice. Sounds like you have lots of options. My 50-series is the "big horse" and there is no backup, so if it goes down I'm up the creek sans paddle. Been that way a few years and I'm getting away with it - but eventually that gamble cuts against me.

Current tractor is being operated at full smoke most of the time. At limit of capability with strip till/planter combo with liquid tanks and 800 bushel cart. In sandy soils with significant hills. I'll be keeping it as a backup as it's in good operating condition. I'd like to step up the power a bit, which leads to MFWD with duals on front and bigger tires - or 2 track machine. Make the next one a little bigger is what we do in ag. Even when you're fighting the trash pandas in the back row of the dealer lot for your next tractor.

Thanks for the input.
