Will it still build air with the red valve out? You might want to check the tractor protection valve if you haven't... on my slightly newer freightliner it is under the rear drivers side of the cab slightly ahead of the gladhand connections. Basically mine appeared it corroded around the bolts until it built up enough volume to crack the aluminum body.
