West Central Wisconsin | People reminiscing below got me remembering how as a kid I would grab an apple off my Grandparents tree between loads of picking corn. I had to go out and remind myself of a simpler time. We had an over abundance of apples this year breaking several branches and limbs. My wife made, and froze, dozens of apple crisps and pies, dozens of pints or quarts of canned and frozen apple sauce and steamed a couple of gallons of juice. Basically just have Golden Delicious left and they will go into canned apple sauce, chunky style. Last year was a poor apple year but she put away quite a few pumpkin pies and pumpkin bars. She grew up learning to preserve from her parents and passed what she learned to our daughters.
