ND | jwal10 - 10/27/2024 08:37 We cook with butter. We used bacon grease back when we ate bacon. We use a little cold pressed virgin olive oil but very little for cooking. Have never made beef tallow. Most of our meat is elk, along with 2 deer a year. I like adding ground buffalo to ground elk and pork with venison instead of just adding fat. Most of our venison is made into "beef" stick and pemmican. I still smoke some pork shoulder to add to "beef" stick and pemmican. We don't use much hamburger and when we do we like Buffalo from a neighbor that raises them. Never was much for steak of any kind. Not a pie crust person, rather have oat and brown sugar topped fruit. #1 peach, #2 apple, #3 wild blackberry, #4 pears....James
