I've been using one for 3 years. have the FreestyleLibre 2, the reader is not that expensive, $67 at the time. The sensors that you wear are the expense to be concerned about, get mine at Walmart, about $42 each and last 14 days, so $3 per day. These have stayed on very well for me, get bumped a lot with work. Only had one come off, caused by 10-34-0 starter fertilizer running down my arm when I was reaching up, that dissolved the adhesive very fast! Had one come apart, the plastic "button" separated from the adhesive patch from catching it on a chair back too many times while fishing. Having used about 90 of the sensors I don't think that is too bad. They will teach you a lot about the effects of different foods and the effects of activity on your blood sugar, you can learn a lot in just a few weeks or months. By the way there is no needle in your arm when the sensor is on you, just some kind of fiber thread that sticks below your skin. There is a needle in the applicator that places that fiber under your skin, then retracts by spring when the sensor is attached.
