I don't think I'd go over 5 pounds an acre. A drilled stand at 3 pounds seems plenty thick the times I have planted it. I've not had good luck with rapeseed if I plant it after September 15th - 20th. I'm more north than you so maybe you could push it a week or 10 days longer. Ideally spin it on a few days ahead of a rain and hope for the best.
