We still fill 2 14x40 silos I would not want cut your silage to wet we sometimes cut a little on the drier side. We put black plastic over the doors. We have stock cows so anything on top when we open it up does not go to waste and when we get down to the good the Calves start. In the summer you will have trouble keeping it fresh with only 10 head.

Thanks for the advice! I may not even fill it full. Basically want enough to last me through the winter to June when they go back out on pasture. I seem to remember parents chopping more on the drier side. Not nearly as green as the neighbors when they pack it in a pile.
