The OP is from South Dakota. If
that aerial photo is in South Dakota,
it's possible that that field was a grain field
swathed, around and around. The black
pattern was left as the combine emptied out
while turning the corners, that's probably why the center vertical line is black also, the last two windrows were far enough
apart, or the swather windrows
were light enough the straw wasn't
dispersed very far.
