East Central, Nebraska | i am aware of agopengps and have had a login to the site for i believe a number of years now. it is very interesting to me but not enough that i can put all my faith into me having to come up with a solution when there is a problem and the planter is sitting during perfect planting conditions.
the idea is incredibly interesting to me as i spend every extra second i have (which seems like very little) further learning programming and messing around with single board computers and microcontrollers but at the end of the day i focus on other ideas as i need to be able to call someone when something is not right or need source parts fast for a guidance system. if i were farming on a smaller scale i would be all in but i already have too many irons in the fire.
as for your product, its interesting. my question though is that if a person is that invested in creating the solution themselves then why not just source the parts layed out on the agopengps website themselves? i speak for myself here but if i was going to take that step i would want to be all in 100% and not only source the hardware and build myself but also have multiples of those components on hand in case of a breakdown.
initially i thought, this person sure has some balls taking an open source platform and the works of others and monetizing it for their own gain, but as i look at your site i see your really trying to facilitate a person to getting to that goal of inexpensive guidance but if thats the case then include the windows tablet and whatever else is needed. unfortunately after you do that and put a price tag on it you will need more than what a reliable widely used system will cost, which is why it has been challenging for me to invest too much time in moving that direction.
greatly respect what they are doing on that site but i cant make that move in that direction at this time. most on here have heard of it but doesn't seem to get much discussion here, not sure why. if your on both sites (this one and agopengps) you will see some of the same user names if your observant.
edit: also the link to the website on your new profile does not work. most will figure it out but just thought i would give you heads up.
