The tax advantage that cattle bring to a couple with 50 head of cattle , where the couple both work in town and have sufficient income, enables them to be very efficient and makes cattle advantageous even if the cattle lose money.


This is my situation honestly... it benefits me greatly to "lose" money with the cows. The biggest problem I see coming is that development and subdivision of land is quickly removing cattle from the land around here. Every city slicker that buys a 10 acre "ranch" and keeps a horse or donkey on it takes the pasture away from cattle.
