South Central MN | The problem with foods that are low in nutrients and high in carbs/energy is that you will eat enough to supply your energy needs for a day, yet still feel hungry since you are lacking certain nutrients. So basically "starving on a full stomach." Might not be as much of a problem for people who are very active and burn off above normal levels of energy (hummingbird like metabolism like my one son, or just very active like I am.) vs. someone who works a desk job from 9-5 and goes home to watch the TV.
Not to mention that thanks to our ancestral genetics some things like salt and sweets together trigger a response to store extra reserves of fat. Just one of the ways our bodies (which are designed to survive limited food intake periods) end up fighting us in the end. | |
