Subject: RE: Electronic devices to help take care of mom

My MIL was the same way. She was all worried about them collecting information about her habits. I told her that the information they were collecting about her was nothing. I said we are to old for amazon to collect much information about us.

I started the whole thing by buying one echo spot. I wanted a clock for the bedroom. I started telling her what I could do with that one spot. Then I got her two Amazon echo spots. No camera. You just talk to the spot.

I told her what I used my spot for. I could turn lights because I bought some smart plugs, turn on the tv, ask about the temperature, time and listen to music, etc. etc.

She told me that she loved her spots because she could ask for the temperature or time at night when she does not have her glasses. I have taught her that she could ask for the weather for the next 7 days. She can ask about her amazon order. She told me the other day that she loves to ask for the time.

One of the neat things with the smart plugs attached to lights. I heard this noise in the living room. I told the spot to turn on all the lights. All the lights from the 6 smart plugs came on. Wow if I was a robber I would be worried a little. I use the smart plugs to turn on the lights as I walk from one part of the house to the other. I have two cats that love to lay perfectly in the way to get stepped on.

I am amazed at the quality of music coming out of the speakers on the spot. I got the 2024 (newest) version of the echo spot. I have barely scratched the surface with my echo spot with alexus. You can use alexus to call someone. You can have up to 10 phone numbers. You can call 911.

Would I do this again, YES.
