NEMO | Huh? What? I guess I'm the one that's lost. When I look at an Angus EPD profile, the DOC number goes from single digits to up over 30, with the single digits being the snot blowing bulls and cows that run away at the sight of a human. Over 30 are milder mannered and the cows will come to a feed bucket and probably let you tag their calf. All that said, we can argue all day long about western cattle needing to be different than row crop farmer owned cows, no real right answer. And as an ex Igenity employee friend once told, verify the numbers by observation. And as to your statement about temperament, I'd view it from the other side of the coin, you can take a group of generally good acting cows and completely blow up their calves with a single digit DOC bull, especially so with Angus | |
