| Farming isn’t the same everywhere. Assuming everyone made money since you did is like assuming no till is going to work for the guy 2 states over.
24 was pretty rough down in Texas. 25 is going to be worse. There’s almost no fertilizer going on grain wheat in my area. Because the budget is negative even for a guy like me that my lowest yield farm is exactly double the county T yield. I can only imagine the shape some of these guys are in. I have several buddy’s who can’t get notes renewed and can’t pay suppliers for 24 inputs currently.
I broke even at best on all my cash crops this year, had great yields for the area too. Cows are the only shiny spot and that’s just for now though. All the costs associated with the cattle have increased, so if calf prices go back to normal like grain we will be in the same boat on them. | |
