You can sure tell who is on the receiving end of the cash rent situation and who was on the paying end. I agree if your bidding up rents hoping and praying the government bails you out or an I state burns up so you can get a big price you are bringing the pain to yourself. No Coup most everyone doesnt have big expensing machinery payments like you think. Also, raising a family is very expensive now a days. It isn't like the 80's where you buy them two pairs of shoes and five pairs of pants hoping the don't have a growth streak. Actually you could farm and have a full time job to support a family. These farm economics have gone off the deep end worse then 1980.
What too many fail too understand when it comes to renting land. The tenant has an obligation to trim all the fat out of the COP to be able to pay the land owner more than others who operate with too much fat in their farm operation. Over priced seed, inputs, and machinery costs of a tenant is of no benefit to the land owner and ends up being a liability to the land owner's ROI
Would wager you are wrong about how much excess bloated machinery costs over the last few years has got too many behind the eight ball currently..
As far was what it takes to raise kids, too much family living expense is spent on wants instead of needs now days.
