Subject: Oil companies vs. corn

Furthermore, why do we assume that the oil industry should promote ethanol? The government mandates that oil companies blend it with THEIR product and sell it in their gas stations. Never mind ethanol is a great product, renewable, clean etc. Oil companies have convinced the general public that ethanol is to blame for any engine problem Even farmers buy “non ethanol” fuel for their small engines. I hear people driveling on about food vs. fuel, big corn subsidies, blah, blah. Oil marketing experts have simply turned it right around and blamed any problems that arise in the storage of their products on the ethanol THEY blend, while using it as a cheap octane booster. Ethanol blends probably absorb more water off the bottom of those filthy gas station storage tanks than many realize. Bottom line is, farmers are disconnected from ethanol and are unable to promote it.
