Remember, I am the child of an economist.  By the time you look at choices through the utility view of economics and the pragmatic view of trade-off’s and constraints of an engineer, very few people are interested in cutting through their emotional viewpoints to even listen.

My wife’s a teacher, she takes a one strike/choice of one/disincentive view towards negotiations/parenting.  Me, I go for more subtle incentives and disincentives.
