| Dont think I saw anyone mention flexible spending accounts. Those can be pretty handy. The dependent care FSA accounts can be used for all sorts of expenses. And then the health care FSAs are handy as well. Can be used for all your copays. Double check amounts but I was thinking like $5000 on dependent care and then $3200 on health care. I even think mileage is allowed for doctor appointments with health care. You need to do a little home work as I think only a small amount of the left over balance can be brought forward.
The 529s vary by state but some are pretty generous if they are credits. Those can be used for books, tuition, housing. And of course the money is growth tax free as long as used on an educated related expense. It doesn't even have to be college, you can use them for education expenses before college. So a credit upfront, and then a tax free growth.
