Central Wi
Self feeders here with corn and pellets. Poor hay or stalks in a ring for scratch and keep them from eating the barns. I suppose a tmr ration would be cheaper but we don't have silage equipment, storage or fenceline bunks. We mix feed with 50 yr old tractor and 35 yr old Gehl mill. Only have to start tractor once a week. We do feed the 3 to 400 lb calves a few weeks with the 5 gallon buckets to bring them up to full feed. I've been curious of these guys feeding in bunks with the augers and drops. What are the benefits? I picture mechanical breakdowns and more labor.
