| I bought a used 2650 to layer bedding out on fields for cattle in the winter, have also windrowed alfalfa bales with it for them to eat. My reason for buying it was to spread the bedding/manure without having to haul the manure with a box spreader. It has done exactly what I wanted it to and couldn't be happier. This year we started grinding alfalfa, oatlage, and straw with it into piles and then feed into vertical tmr with grower rations for feeder calves. I don't see the need for the "shortcut option" as with the table on the buster, you can feed it slower and achieve the short cut. My alfalfa is no longer than 4 inches in the piles, if you fed it faster into a windrow yes you could keep it longer stemmed from what I've noticed. The one I bought was used and I put all new hammers on from Kooima ag, I used half hardened and half regular and they seem to do an excellent job. I maybe process 10 bales a week. The new knives definitely threw the pile farther away from the machine when layering the bedding in the fields so that did make a noticeable difference for me. | |
