We had a john deere 3020 with a jd 400 grinder mixer. Fill up to #2 with ear corn, then fill the rest with small square alfalfa. You had to be careful feeding the hay in, as a too big flake would really drag the tractor down. Could always push in a flake with another flake if stuck. Feeding in loose hay was harder because it would get stuck so you had to get a stick to push it in.
What is the process for using hay in a grinder mixer?
