Mohawk Indiana | The last farm we bought was handled this way.
Local attorney, estate had left the proceeds from the sale of the farm to our local Community Foundation.
Farm adjoins ours.
Had to basically bid against yourself. No opportunity to raise.
They had three bids, we got it for just a little over what the back up bidder offered.
If the winning bid was from someone that they didn’t want to sell it to, would we have gotten a call, I don’t know.
I do know that this kind of auction has been done more often with this attorney.
You have to put up or shut up.
