Subject: Trying something new

NC Iowa
So I have a field I would like to try some new practices on this year. I am in NC Iowa and this is relatively decent ground. This field is rotated going to corn this year. In the past we have always put our Nitrogen on in the form of 32% all up front in the spring with our pre emerge chemistry. I should also add we have always put our Dry fertilizer on in the winter months, which I do not agree with. This is just the way my dad has done it for years and I am becoming involved enough now and have my own acres to try some different practices. My plan for this year includes spring applied Dry fertilizer, P-80# (174lbs of DAP), K-75# (125lbs of Potash). I will also be applying SO4 with the dry (30#). This plan would've been better executed last fall but it just Kind of came around recently. So on top of the Dry in the spring, I also plan on putting on 120# of NH3 with N-serve in the spring. On top of that I was thinking of adding in 40# of 32% with my pre emerge chemistry as a starter, and then coming back around V-8 with Y-drops to put another 40# of 32% on with 9# of ATS mixed in. There will also be a high clearance fungicide and insecticide application applying a minimum of 15gal/ Acre. This is an expensive program and looking back I would do some things differently but this is where I am at. My concern is the compaction that could potentially be caused by applying all of this in the spring pre-plant. Should I skip the NH3 this spring and use 32% with pre and then come back and side dress? Just looking for input on it. Again, just an idea. TIA
