we had an old 950 IH we did some hay grain mix for sheep with. We scooped tub ground hay into it by hand, cant imagine putting unground loose hay thru it. ours worked "ok" if hay was really dry and and didn't fill the mixer too full it would bridge or have not have enough grain in it to mix not bridge.
NH made a 358 and 359 that was designed to handle roughage. good grinders but long in the tooth
