A slinger isn't great for packed cornstalks. It will shred it up into small chunks but takes a huge amount of power, is slow to unload especially if it bridges at all, and can leave an uneven spread pattern, especially as the spreader gets empty. A NH195 is the economy option that will work, doesn't need much power, very simple, and will do a decent job but you absolutely need the top beater and if you stack it even a little too high, the top will go over the beater and leave a pile in the field which is a big hassle to deal with. The premium option is a vertical beater spreader, much more even spread pattern and no piles. A hydra push will give you more even spread all the way to empty, an apron you will spend the last 1/3 of the load spreading at 1/10 rate so need to slow down or spread multiple times or just have uneven spread.
