I'm surprised they will still work as far north as some claim they do. 

I struggled with my one on rural water for most of a summer after the district put in a new updated meter that had the electronic drive by readers. It acted like yours and leaked by just enough to run over and cause a mess. They claimed the new meter was the same pressure as the old meter, but after they came back out to check on their meter my waterer problem magically cured itself.
