Once I was stuck behind the 8-ball, needed a repair done and the only shop available to do it at the time was the dealer, a pretty straightforward repair I was in town and was not able to drive it home. Got an estimate of 6-8 hours labor for the repair, wound up getting charged for over 30. When I pointed out the estimate was for 8 hours or less, they dropped it down to 26 if I remember right. When I again pointed out that I was told 8 hours or less, I was told that if I thought I was being over charged to go somewhere else next time.
Never been back in the dealer shop area since then.
Oh, and just to see if I was being unreasonable, I took the repair sheet AND the item repaired to an independent dealer, who looked at both the sheet and my item, noted what they replaced, and the conditions of the repair and said the repair should have taken from 5-7 hours in his estimation.
That service manager doesn't work there anymore, but I still have a sour taste from the experience. Go to independent mechanic now with what I can't fix myself, don't plan on ever taking anything back except as a last resort. | |
