Ft. Ripley MN | Haven’t run h&s but have good luck with new holland spreaders. Currently have the gehl version of the 195. I think a top beater is must… the chain is hydraulically driven so it’s close to a hydra push. Use to have a Deere 450 before the gehl version of the 185 new holland. I like the Hydra push… vertical beaters would be the cats meow but for the extra $15-$20k over horizontal beaters… that’s a hard pull to swallow. Since going to a bale processor I think vertical beaters aren’t necessary anymore. Honestly if you are using cornstalks or straw you will be fine… the down side to horizontal beaters are grassy bedding…
If I leave a lot and spread it in the fall I can spread it as fast as the spreader will take it. If I won the lottery it would be a different story… for now economics win | |
