East of Broken Bow | My wife has a 2019 Jeep Cherokee (not the Grand) that has 170,000 miles, only repairs have been to fix an oil leak and a CV boot. It is the best vehicle we have ever owned for slick roads, whether it be ice, snow, or mud. Has the big inline 4 engine, gets about 30 MPGs in mixed driving, power is adequate but you can tell that engine is more for economy than performance. Keeps up with any traffic though. She works at a service center/repair shop and the main mechanic there said that as a brand, Subaru is probably the best in his opinion as far as long-term reliability. Said that he won't badmouth the drivetrain of a Honda or Toyota, but from what he has seen around here, they rust out faster than a Subaru. On top of that, most all wheel drive Subaru's seem to perform really well on bad roads as well. He has nothing against her Jeep other than certain diagnostics require special software subscription to run (or a trip to a dealer) where the Subarus he has worked on so far have not. | |
