I question how one runs a farm without getting stumped on a repair from time to time. For example, right now i have a broken wheel stud on the combine. When they break they need bored out and re-tapped. How does one do that themselves? Dealer shows up with a mag drill that fits right on the hub.
Started sending my pickup to a garage a few years ago and sure dont miss those jobs.
Im not set up for A/C work or any computer diagnostics.
I can weld but would far rather have a professional do if available.
Lots of guy stick there nose up at me for hiring stuff fixed, especially when they know i can fix a lot of things.
Time is the problem. Often a mechanic for $150 is the only extra help I can hire, and yes its expensive but it lets me focus on the land and not spend time wrenching when i should be farming. | |
