Reliability and cost of ownership I would look at the Toyota and Honda hybrids. Great fuel mileage and very very reliable. No transmissions to deal with brakes last a long time due to much of the braking being done with wheel motors to recharge batteries. Hybrids have been out since 2000 and are very proven at this point. These are not the plug in hybrids.
