NW Missouri | This is the boat I'm in as well. I try to do the simpler stuff on my own, but I'm not the greatest mechanic, so when I'm in over my head (or know I will be) I'm not too proud to hire someone else. I also have an off-farm job, so as others have said, with the time I would have spent trying to diagnose or figure out how to fix something, I can be getting something else done while people that know what they're doing get it taken care of.
I try to use independent mechanics whenever possible, but I do sometimes use the dealer.
