One thing that helped my brother when he had a shop fire is that he had registered his tools warranty online. The online registration had kept track of what he bought, the day he bought it, and how much he paid for it. He had one line of power tools, DeWalt, and it was a simple matter to print out the list from DeWalt. Might not sound like a big deal, but he had no idea he had like $2500 or $3000 worth of tools and batteries he had accumulated over time until he got that list.
