Madison Co. Virginia | It appears the 420 was governed at 2800 rpm. The 4BT can do 2500 rpm with relative ease, so I'd be first looking at that even though it would mean a 10% reduction in travel speed and hydraulic flow.
The 4B used in Uniloaders and the XT series were rated at 2000 to 2200 rpm depending on the model.
The 1838 was built as a cheaper version of the 1840, and used a Kubota v2203 engine instead of the 4B. That engine is rated at 2800 rpm, but is only putting out 45 hp. Supposedly the v2203 and similar Kubota models are readily available out of scrapped reefer trailers. | |
