Bloomfield MO | Some might argue, that it’s money thrown away. I’ve been planting soybeans into heavy rye, for several years now and applying my burndown and premerge, as I plant. Been using gramoxone for burndown, metolachlor, metribuzin and fomosafen, for premerge. My most problematic weeds are pigweed, morninglory and sicklepod. As thick as the covers are, I doubt that most of my premerge is making immediate contact with the soil. Last spring was very wet and I believe my pre’s worked good but quickly moved to the soil, from immediate rains. However, if it’s a dry spring(which we haven’t had in a while), I’d assume my effectiveness would affected. How effective are my pre’s actually working vs. the ground cover of the dead rye? | |
