I’m looking into getting a UPS for my computer setup, and I’m a bit confused about which one to choose. I want something that can protect my PC from power surges and provide backup power during outages, but I’m not sure what specs to look for.

Can anyone recommend a good UPS for a home computer setup? How much battery backup time do I really need, and what’s the best brand to go with?

I've had model APS2012 inverter/charger from Tripp-Lite for about 20 years. It has settings for over and under current, and has done its job well this week due to the recent ice storm and its aftermath. The setup is not pretty or compact, but one nice thing is that I can add as many 12v batteries as I want depending on how much run time I need. Get a watt measuring device like Kill-a-Watt to measure total watts used for your computer(s) + monitor + router, etc., then that will tell you how large of an inverter/charger to buy. Also, make sure that you use a sealed battery. I need to do some dusting, LOL.
