Subject: RE: Knight reel mixer rebuild

I have done it to a 3170,3575 and 3550. I had the liners made at a local steel fabricator. It was a lot less than knight. We did it in the shop where i work. I would put add a liner on the front wall in front of the lower augur and in front of the reel up to the reel bearing. They get thin there. I weld every sheet of liner to the mixer all the way around it. Not liner to liner. Check with post equipment in rock valley Iowa. They have a good selection of parts for those that are less money than knight. Re read your post. You can definitely put a second set of liners in. Recommend cutting old out first. Make sure the augur tubes especially the bottom one is not worn out/thin. I have seen more than one twisted off. It’s always by the door. Post equipment can get you a complete augurs with thicker fighting than knight uses or just flighting. If you are not doing the work yourself I would price complete augurs and compare. At work we bought a used knight RC250 last year. It took me forever to find a decent one. We still use a 3550 and 3575 every day and they work fine. I see very little difference between a 3575 and the newest models other than the heavy duty drive. If your not having jack shaft/chain problems not sure there would be any benefit.
