Roseglen, North Dakota | I well remember when Jimmy was elected as it was when I started farming. I think every farmer in the US had a warm fuzzy feeling because a FARMER HAD BEEN ELECTED President.
We all know how that went.
On the other hand it's a little bit ridiculous to blame the Carter administration for:
BTOS.
Poor estate laws.
Land being held by wealthy people.
Whatever else you want to castigate him for. Is he even in the ground yet?
And I thot Bergland was a straight arrow. But the Secretary of Ag has no more clout than Bidens German Shepherd.
For heavens sakes you're talking about 48 years ago!
There's PLENTY of middle class farmers with no debt doing JUST FINE.
Regarding estate taxes it's 1000 times easier for STO farmers to pass on their assets than the BTOS.
Husband wife can give away $27 million in assets with no tax due.
Before this it was $13 million
I think that wd cover most middle class farmers.
Jimmy didn't do the farmers any good but he was at least a relatively honest dude I thot.
And farmers have had some great years in the last 40.
Just my .02.
