SW OH
We've been using the same 8 1/2X11 time sheets for over 25 years. The shop is still on paper time sheets until April. The company started using an app based program called Workday about a year ago. It sucks big time. It hasn't taken full effect in the shop yet. You have to have the app on your phone. I know of a few people that either quit or were let go for refusing to put it on thier personal phone. I know many more that had dumb phones had to upgrade to a smart phone. It's been a lot of headaches for everyone. You have to be on company property to clock in or out, verified by GPS. Several aggregate locations don't have any cell service. They've been trying to create a wifi umbrella to overcome this. On jobsites that are on the move daily the foremans phone creates the umbrella. If the foreman is late, they can't clock in.

If you want a day or week off, you have to request it through Workday. If you want to see your paystub, print your W2, or to take your twice monthly safety training update, Workday. I have a company phone so the app is on it. I can only log into Workday if I have company wifi, no where else. So if I were to take a day off for being sick, I have to get my phone to the shop to let my boss know I'm not working today. This is all going to get 10 times worse the the company's main frame operating systems is switched to a program called Tenna. The aggregate side has also been using a program called Workersafetypro. By August first all the of these programs are supposed to be fully compatible with each other through a prism. Our IT department has trouble fixing little problems, so this is not going to work very well.

If you think this sounds like a mess, it's only the tip of an iceberg. Our company moto is: We don't make sense, we make asphalt.
