Jeffersonville, OH | I know MANY. Dad, Brother, a grandpa, Uncles, Great Uncles, Friends, customers, etc, etc, etc.
I haven't joined, but I will someday when I'm not as busy at the store all the time...but I still go help with some of the fundraisers when they need my mechanical skills for things, like the ice cream social to keep the mixers running...our family has always been pretty involved with the local Lodge.
Dad and Brother are also both Shriner's, as well as both being involved in a few other of the Masonic fraternities
I likely know a lot of Mason's due to those connections, so if you don't have a local Lodge, then you likely wouldn't know any. There are also a LOT of Mason's that aren't active, but joined for a number of reasons and never go back.
I haven't kept up on this number, but at one point years ago, the Masonic Fraternities contributed about $1 Million a day to charities, with one of the most visible to the public being the Shriner's Hospital which provides help to children all 100% free of any charges, and assistance to their families in other ways as well.
Even if there is some giant secret being kept from the "local members" and running the country over the past 200 years in the shadows, I would tend to think that they have also done a lot of good for the communities as well. Knowing a great many Mason's, a few even being the Grand Master of Ohio's Lodge at different times, I would trust them with a LOT because I have known very few to be what I would consider to be bad men.
Most are just good people like we all are...
Chris
