Hooker Twp,Ne | We had a wildfires go through some of the land we farm last fall. Tall trees were still standing but the center of the tree was burnt. Son went out with bulldozer and trees just broke over and some still had fire in them a week later. Pasture fences all ruined. Every hedge post burnt off. Can count 600 acres of different pastures that probably won’t be replaced but put to crops now. Fire was headed toward small town of 600 and they evacuated the nursing home at the time. Luckily the wind turned but that caused some losses for others. Son lost a bean field and daughter lost their windbreak and tin on north side of shop warped when that happened. | |
