Northeast Missouri | > I would love for my agronomic data to interact with my financials.
The questions are always, "In what way?" and "Is what you want the same as what the next person wants?"
In my opinion this is one of the main reasons why we have so many different farm-specific accounting products: once you get outside of/beyond financial and/or tax accounting, everybody wants some slightly different form of analysis of physical data with respect to financial data. So most products that implement some kind of agronomic data gathering and analysis have implemented "someone's" idea of how to do all of that...and it doesn't suit everybody; especially if you consider all the variations in farm enterprises--livestock and such.
Also, everybody differs in how much detail they are willing to track. Data gathering is becoming more automated, but we're still a long way off from effortless/automated gathering and analysis of physical and financial data.
I'm intrigued with the idea that a generic ERP system might be useful for analyzing farm data though. If I had more time.... |
